| Capernaum (Kfar Nahum) |
|   |
Among the remnants of the ancient fishermen's
village, there is a very old synagogue, one of the biggest discovered in Israel.
The synagogue is built of cut lime stones, engraved with figures of the fauna
and flora and traditional Jewish symbols, such as the Menora, Shofar, etc.
The Jewish population of Kfar Nahum has emerged in the second century
B. C. and lived mainly on fishing, agriculture
and trade.
